  • Can anyone find an international moving company having had previous experience specific to Ecuador and can guarantee "door to door" service to the Quito area from Seattle, Washington using the city of Manta as the "port of entry"? The goods to be moved are household articles and furniture? I would be greatful for this information. Thanks, Unclewiggly

  • Crabcakes, You fart! I got my friend to read your last remark in Espanole for me. Like you and everyone else eh! Yeah, I know I?ve got to learn the language here to make my experience here of any real value. But I lack the discipline necessary for the achievement! I need to meet a 28 year old who will withhold sex from me until I learn how to beg in Spanish! I can't think of another thing that would have just the right motivational components. But thanks for your incouragement. Anytime you want to check out Ecuador let me know and we can put you up. It?s a great world out there if one is not trapped in a socio-economic hell like the poor in Caracas. It is a god forsaken city if I ever saw one. People criticize Chavez for not changing things fast enough but god what a job he has on his hands if he is sincere in what he communicates in his speeches. Thanks again, Ciao, Unclewiggly

  • To Crabcakes: Not sure how to reply directly to you but it looks like you?ve won again. You remembered me from my last question. Yes, I came dangerously close to buying a piece of property in Venezuela. In a little town called Santo Domingo near Merida in the Andes. It was a very large house with four cabanas on the property built next to a beautiful river all for $70,000USD! However, we came to understand that we would be vulnerable there to a criminal element. The Venezuelan people are a bit more aggressive than in other South American Countries, so we ended up near Quito, Ecuador. We bought a house just outside of Quito and every day we can?t believe what a great place this is. Ecuador is fabulous and I intend to be buried here. I feel very sad about what has happened to America politically. So what do I do now? I rated your answer at 5 stars so does that mean you automatically get paid? Thanks & Ciao, --Unclewiggly

  • Thanks, I'll see where this gets me. Your response was listed as a comment and if I get great assurances from these places I would certainly want to give you something even if your "comment" was not officially all that I was asking, but I'm not sure how to do that unless you have a Pay-Pal account so I could send a different amount than the $65. I'm new to this so please let me know if you have an idea. Thanks again, Unclewiggly

  • Thank you for the stars, UncleWiggly!Once your question is answered, in the answer box, you are charged. While we researchers appreciate being rated (especially with 5 stars!), it is not necessary in order to pay for your question. Merida IS a beautiful place - I spent a summer there, and my brother-in-law is on the faculty at ULA. There was some anti-US American sentiment then, but I understand it has greatly increased. When one of my family members (Who holds Venezuelan and USA citizenship) went to ULA recently to speak, bodyguards were provided! Enjoy Ecuador! Espero que ha aprendido bastante espa ol, y tambien idiomas ind genas! Ciao, Crabcakes
