  • 'どなたですか donadesuka'

A girl I added on myspace sent me a message and I don't know what it means...

in the message she just put ...

She didn't add me but all she did was message me...please help.

  • This is used a lot in polite speech, especially on the phone. Alex, take another look at the OP; he added her, then she asked who it was. It would certainly be weird the other way around.

  • Babelfish said that "どなたですか" means "Is it who?"

  • Hmmm...

    *is confused*

It means "who are you", どなた is 敬語 (honorable form) so if you are a beginner you may not be familiar with it yet. If you ask me, it's a little wierd to add you and then to ask you who you are.

  • Hmm by any chance she wrote donna desu ka, cause that would mean "...what kinda?"
Btw can someone tell how to write the little tsu like thingy with a latin keyboard? I really struggled hard, but it always just gave me どんな or どんな.

Why? You added some random girl to your MySpace and now she wants to know who you are. Donata = who; donata desu ka = who are you?

  • Maybe send her a message back asking what was the point of her message?
